Awareness programmes mark Women’s Day in Vizag

Donning different roles and leading by example life, today’s modern woman has become an embodiment of respect and dignity. Recognising women for their unconditional support and hard work, several organisations in the city have come up with their own ideas to celebrate ‘International Women’s Day’.
With ‘inspiring change’ as the current year’s theme, a number of medical camps, workshops on safety and security and inspiring talks marked the celebrations. Keeping women’s safety as the focus, staff of 93.5 Red FM has celebrated Women’s Day inviting Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Sreenivas to participate in its ‘babai-abbai’ programme. To promote health and hygiene, Srujanavani, an organisation that w0orks for the downtrodden, hosted ‘menstrual health management’ drive involving a team of doctors. Chaitanya Sravanthi in association with Lions Cancer Hospital conducted cancer awareness programme at Primary School in Relli Veedhi. Government Whip Dronamraju Srinvasa Rao, who was the chief guest, delivered a talk on the occasion.
It was a pleasant surprise for the ladies of Coromandel Ladies Club as Varun Beach Inox invited them to make merry on the special day. Indian Bank, zonal office celebrated the day on its premises at Dwarakanagar. Zonal manager of the bank Lakshmipathi Reddy presented a cheque of Rs.10,000 to Government Residential School for Visually Challenged Girls.
Andhra Bank invited women employees of all the branches to participate in the health talk organised by Omni RK hospital.
